
In August, the Allen Institute announced the second cohort of post-graduate fellows. Congratulations to Anamika Agrawal (UCSD), Lu Mi (MIT), and Matthew Bull (Stanford University). These post-graduate quantitative scientists will join their colleagues from the 2021 inaugural cohort in developing novel research programs, which push the boundaries of both data and neuroscience.

The former Hixon Center for Sustainable Environmental Design at Harvey Mudd College was recently rebranded as the Hixon Center for Climate and the Environment. It is poised to become the locus for new climate studies courses as well as other curricular, co-curricular and research endeavors at HMC and in the Claremont consortium. The Center will serve as a home for students and faculty to explore their passion for understanding and integrating the human and technical facets of a wide variety of environmental issues, with particular emphasis on finding solutions to climate change.

Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation announces the launch of Diagnostic Accelerator 2.0. Launched in July 2018, the Diagnostics Accelerator mobilized commitments totaling $50 million to develop cutting-edge biomarkers and explore novel diagnostic technologies that will aid in Alzheimer’s diagnosis and clinical trial design. ADDF is renewing and accelerating this work with DXA 2.0, mobilizing $100 million new investments focus on identifying novel biomarkers and technologies to advance validation-stage investments and enable activities for proof-of-concept studies.
